Del Mar is a small beach town located along the coast of San Diego County. At its founding, the town was known as San Dieguito, which means "little San Diego" in Spanish. The Del Refugio Land Company established Del Mar as a resort destination and sold lots for vacation homes. After that, the town quickly grew and began to attract visitors from all around the world.
Del Mar gained international attention in the 1950s when Bing Crosby and Hollywood celebrities came to race at the Del Mar Race Track. This revived interest in the small beach town attracted more tourists, eventually increasing its popularity.
