Welcome to Del Mar

Del Mar is a small beach town located along the coast of San Diego County. At its founding, the town was known as San Dieguito, which means "little San Diego" in Spanish. The name was changed to Del Mar in 1885 when the nearby settlement of Del Sol’s post office began using it for postal markings. The Del Refugio Land Company established Del Mar as a resort destination and sold lots for vacation homes. After that, the town quickly grew and began to attract visitors from all around the world.

Del Mar gained international attention in the 1950s when Bing Crosby and Hollywood celebrities came to race at the Del Mar Race Track. This revived interest in the small beach town attracted more tourists, eventually increasing its popularity.

Today, Del Mar is an exclusive beach town known for its multi-million dollar waterfront residences, stunning beaches, and upscale restaurants. Those lucky enough to live in Del Mar know it is unique and full of Southern California charm. Residents participate in many outdoor activities, such as sailing, surfing, sunbathing, and kayaking.
