Running Time

Posted under Kara's World by kara

I guess keeping up with my blog on a weekly basis was a bit over ambitious at first. Hitting the road and staying on the road for about a month is not conducive to keeping up with online activities. That’s alright. A flow of some sort will find it’s way here.

So a brief run down of what’s going on.

Yeah I’ve been mostly traveling. Mainly back and fourth about 4 times on I40 from Missouri to AZ, UT & CA with a couple stints on Route 66 too. I played the Telemagica Festival in Jacumba, CA. again. It was even smaller than the year before and many of the core bands and people that have been there the past 6 years I have been participating were not present. That was a bummer, but it was still beautiful. I was able to take my boyfriend who had never been to such an event and had an awesome time. I played all three days and lead the  ’Silent Opera of Alignment’. Made a short stint to a nearby naturist resort then hung on the beach. I did not get to see anyone really, but some select family members for  small reunion, but I hope to see some of you friends on my next drive out which will be soon.  I’m still totally enjoying the Ford Fiesta, but I will blog about that separately. I didn’t play as many shows this summer as I anticipated. A couple venues I had planned with cancelled and a few others were not willing to book acts due to lack of budget and/or my lack of not booking soon enough.  ( I think a booking agent or manager type person would be so friggin’ helpful, but as it stands I’m still doing EVERYTHING solo) So I take it as the times and figure I’ll just keep focus on writing more songs, working with the equipment I have acquired over the last year that I have yet to fully learn how to use and keep plugging along. I have a gigantic check list on my bulletin board of tasks to do so I’ll stay busy. Oh yeah and clean my Friggin’ house! My next travels will be leading me to the ‘Gathering’ in New Mexico. So if you are family maybe I’ll see you there.

Welcome to my blog!

‘For Starters…’

Here I go, joining the blobs of blogs out there, adding to my already overwhelming networks of social activity. This is in a way though apart from all that I suppose. Not really, but yea. I could keep it simple or opt to over analyze all the ins and outs of reason behind why I am going to blog.
Nagh! Simply, it’s time. If you are reading this that’s good enough for me.
Whew, beat out my analytical tendencies the first take. Yay! There’ll be plenty more opportunity down the road for that stuff.
Onto what’s going on in my world at the present. If you have made it this far to find my Blog then you pretty much know what I am generally about. If not, hit up my websites :)

“So what’s up musically?” That’s been the big question for me lately. “Am I writing?” The answer is yes. Always writing. You must bare in mind though that the writing process for me is as slow as molasses. I deal with beaucoup frustration at all times due to the multitudes of options and directions a song can go. So to finnish it… well that never really happens. What is that ol’ saying?? “An artist’s work is never really finished, only abandoned.”  Oh so true!
I am however having a friggin’ blast playing with Garage Band! Digging into the home recording, mixing, looping, layering aspect of it all. Talk about multitudes of options to boot! Yowza! But sooo addicting. “So when will I release an album?” That’s the other question. Well I used to think it would be sometime this year in ‘09, but I’m a perfectionist to a fault I suppose (aren’t we all?) & oh yea, don’t forget the molasses. So when an album is close to coming out ya’ll will be the first to know. ( hehe ;p )

“Well then What else is up?” you ask…
I won a contest! Yeah that’s right I entered a contest & for a corporation no doubt. Many of you who are anti-corp frown at this I do know. The other of you are happy for me, yay. Well I must say I have my motives and it is all good. But then again I have been sinning and drinking Starbucks. I used to boycott them, now they are my occasional guilty pleasure, I still think fair trade coffee is an ultimate choice, sugar is still the devil and yeah that’s it on this defensive ramble for now. Back to the contest. It was a video submission entry to find 100 hundred test drivers for the new 2011 Ford Fiesta that is currently only released in Europe. What’s the big deal about them? Well they are pushing the whole fuel efficiency, compact car thing. Being that Ford usually has focused mainly on the big trucks and so on this is supposed to be a big step for them. Well the whole world is going more compact and efficient that way, just our American culture is last
to get the big clue and jump on the band wagon, but anyways. Also the cars look hella cool! Really awesome interior gadgets and design that make this car like Wow! You wont be able to miss ‘em going down the road for sure. So as much as I know that my involvement would be well if not better spent promoting an alternative fuel vehicle in many of ya’ll’s opinions, this is a great opportunity for me. Bringing it back around to my music it will enable me to travel this summer, to perform as much as I can. We all know the current economical state of things in this country. Therefore many venues and festivals are hesitant to pay performers at this time making touring not an option for many little known independents such as myself.
Ford picks up the gas tab on this project so that problem for me is solved. Also it will be exciting, Ford will be sending all of it’s ‘Agent Drivers’ out on groovy missions where we are to record and compile creative videos out of our yet to be unveiled experiences. This will be forcing me to quickly further my video editing skills, all the while expanding the ‘Agent’s’ personal social networks and exposure. Here, I’ll post the links that pertain to this ‘Fiesta Movement’ which covers all the info and stats on the other participants in this nationwide event.
